SEO tutorial for a successful online marketing campaignBy Larry Smith*
An effective SEO tutorial isn’t one consisting of a few simple steps that take little time and effort to consider, but actually of a multitude of marketing tricks and strategies. We've seen the way the game of SEO has changed in the last few years and according to the latest news from Google, it seems that was only the tip of the iceberg compared to what it's going to happen in the future. Nevertheless, for many businesses the target is still their local markets which represent a very high source of ROI, so with that in mind, what marketing techniques do you need to implement to be successful with your business?
1. Create multiple domain names
If you have a company that sells products and\or services in more than one country, then you should definitely consider creating a separate domain name for every other country you'd like to operate in. When determining if a certain URL is relevant to search results in a specific country, Google will first of all look at the top level domain. Therefore, if you want to rank better in a certain location with your business, then you may want to implement this strategy in your online marketing efforts.
2. Remain clear on your target
While certain businesses are completely focused on a national market, yet want to target a certain location, others will focus entirely on a local market. However, when you want to target a specific location, things can get a bit difficult, since your efforts of getting traffic from a certain location may hinder your efforts to receive traffic from various other locations, including international ones. That is why as a business, you'll need to emphasize on the fact that you can also offer your services or products to people who live in other parts of the country. At the end of the day, if you have many offices, managing listings in bulk can be pretty simple.
3. The importance of citations
While for some people citations may sound very strange, they are actually references about the address of your business and the business itself posted on various directories and websites. The more citations you have, the better you'll do in the rankings and that is why you need to make them a priority in 2014.
4. Build quality links 1 by 1
Even though some SEO Companies won't admit it, links were, are and will remain very important for search engine optimization. No one can deny that the Penguin update may have scared off a lot of internet marketers from implementing them in their SEO strategies, but if you avoid this vital SEO component for too long, then you'll lose valuable traffic.
If you want to keep building links, then you'll need to do that varying the link sources as much as possible and building links one at a time. By doing so, not only will you be able to protect yourself from any future updates, but at the same time your link profile will look natural. At the end of the day, you need to keep in mind that a quality link needs no justification, since authority and relevancy determine how great a link is, not how simple it was to build it.
5. Maintain NAP consistency
NAP refers to every place on the internet where the information of your business is listed, so you need to ensure that your N (Name) A (Address) P (Phone Number) is always consistent. If there is any inconsistency between your name and address or your name and phone number, then you'll miss out on the "credit" Google gives you when it comes to ranking your business. While it's easy to maintain NAP consistency, there are cases in which it can get out of hand and sometimes, certain businesses won't even be aware of all the internet references to their name, address and phone number.
As you can see, the SEO tutorial for 2014 is a combination of multiple factors that need to be taken very seriously if you want to achieve success with your online business. By keeping these tips in mind, your marketing campaign will not only be superior compared to the strategies your competitors use, but it will also help you reap profits much faster.
